The term of profession which is the basic building block of today's economic system, is a concept that has been the subject of research by social scientists. As a matter of fact, in the light of the data set out, it is necessary to go through a certain process and have acceptable criteria in order to become a profession or a job. While the researches about the concept of profession continue, many occupational groups have to prove their existence. Public relations profession is one of the areas where there is no consensus on the perception of occupation. The public relations concept that started in America in the 1900s and has been recognized by the whole world in the process has not yet reached its deserved reputation. Public relations, which have become indispensable in all organizations as a management task in the international field, are not known by many organizations, including large corporations today. Another common misconception about the profession is the dissemination of propaganda tool by professional advocates. Ivy Lee, who was accepted as the founder of public relations, started work in America, and then Europe and all over the world gained momentum. The Declaration of Principles, in which Ivy Lee determines the content, objectives, rules and limits of the profession, is a guide for occupational practitioners. While the discussions about the public relations as a profession continue, researches about the public relations between the advocates of the profession at the same time gain dimension. Different perspectives, starting from the shortcomings of the name in Turkish, continue until the criticism of the theory. The perception that the public interest is not observed, which is another set that has been put in front of the profession, is refuted by the research data and reports obtained many times. Edward L. Bernays, another name that comes to mind when it comes to public relations, states today that the public relations profession is not correct and does not have a wrong attitude. When these studies and definitions of the pioneers of the profession are considered, it will be correct to define public relations as a profession which includes many fields of practice and which is a bridge between the organization and the stakeholders. Another key criterion for the formation of the profession is accreditation. The professional perception of the students studying at this point is a field of study that should be investigated. In this study, an analysis is made about the perceptions of the students who are studying in state and foundation universities.tr_TR
