dc.description.abstract23 Ekim 2011 tarihinde meydana gelen Van-Erciş merkezli deprem ve 9 Kasım 2011 tarihinde meydana gelen Van-Edremit merkezli deprem; Van ili merkezinde, ilçelerinde ve çevresinde çok kuvvetli bir şekilde hissedilmiştir. Ayrıca bölgede yıkıcı hasarlara da neden olmuştur. Çok sayıda can kaybına da yol açmıştır. 23 Ekim ve 9 Kasım 2011 depremlerinde toplam 644 vatandaşımız hayatını kaybetmiş, 1.966 vatandaşımız yaralanmış, 252 vatandaşımız ise enkazdan sağ olarak kurtarılmıştır. Ülkemizde afet yönetiminin tek elde toplanarak eşgüdümün sağlanması, afet politikalarının gözden geçirilerek olası afetlere karşı daha dikkatli ve hazırlıklı olunması, afet sonrası yönetimde olan bireylerin daha profesyonel davranarak afetin olası etkilerini minimize etmesi, Van Depremi sonrası gerek merkezi, gerekse yerel yönetimler bazında yapılanlar/yapılamayanlar irdelenerek ve fay hattı üzerinde bulunan ülkemizin olası diğer afetlere karşı hazırlıklı olunmasının sağlanması gerekmektedir. Bu çalışmanın birinci bölümünde afet yönetiminden, ikinci bölümde Van depreminden, deprem anı ve sonrasında yönetim birimlerinin yapmış oldukları çalışmalardan bahsedilmiştir. Yapılan çalışmalar ait belgeler birleştirilerek birtakım sonuçlara ulaşılmış ve bazı önerilerde bulunulmuştur.tr_TR
