The Opinions of the Teachers Taking Inclusive Education Course on the Teaching of Turkish as a Second Language

Abstract

Inclusive education is a prominent practice in our country in recent years. It is predicted that it will contribute to the education of particularly disadvantaged individuals. Within the scope of the study, qualitative results were tried to be presented through interviews on the expectations of teachers from different branches of the inclusive education with the theme of teaching Turkish as a second language from the course and how the education of foreign students should be. 21 teachers participated in the study and a semi-structured interview form was applied. It has been determined that teachers do not see foreign students as a problem, but suspect that they can be beneficial to them. They also stated that foreign students cause problems in the classroom because they do not know Turkish language and culture. It was also determined that the textbooks should be reconsidered according to foreign students and that there should be a certain education program for teaching basic language skills.
